“The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you.” -Coco Chanel
I was scrolling through my Instagram feed the other day and I noticed something: tons of color, but none of MY colors. If you look around my house, my day-to-day wardrobe, heck, even my Pinterest boards, you will notice one theme: pastels. I have been a pink and blue girl ever since that day in adulthood when you finally figure out “your style”. And that style has permeated into every aspect of my life. Except for my Instagram feed
Maybe its because I got caught up in trying to figure out who I was as an Instagrammer, or in trying to emulate what was going on in the “Disney Instagram Community”. Whatever the case, I finally realized: my Instagram is like every other design aspect of my life: an extension of my personal aesthetic. Don’t ask me why it took so long to realize this. I have no idea.
“I don’t understand why you’re completely disregarding your signature color.” -Serena, Legally Blonde
But what I do know is that it’s never too late to change a direction you’re going in if you find another direction that works better for you.
So, WELCOME to my re-branded blog! I guess I could say “finally branded blog” because I never really went through a branding exercise when I started it. They say, “don’t wait until you have it all figured out, just start.” That’s actually really great advice, and that’s just what I did. I designed a quick logo that I wasn’t married to, invested in a nice-looking but inexpensive WordPress theme, and S-T-A-R-T-E-D.
Here I am, just over a year later (my blog turned one on October 8th!), and I knew it was time for a re-fresh. Now I am NOT a graphic designer. If you read this regularly you may know that I’m an INTERIOR designer. Logos are not my specialty. But I know enough about Adobe Illustrator to get around, and the rest I spent hours on YouTube and Adobe help desk watching tutorials to learn. I grabbed our office Pantone deck and got to work. And what I came up with I’m pretty proud of. For someone (me) who didn’t even know WordPress just over a year ago, I can look at my blog now and be genuinely proud of what I see. And it’s decidedly “me”. I hope you guys like it to, and what’s to come!
“Whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed.” -Elle Woods
The first thing I did once i finished the site was grab my Nikon Z6 and head out to to snap these pics. I just found this super comfy white dress from Shop Red Dress for under $50, and since I live in Florida, this is going to be a great transitional piece going into Fall. It’s a soft, guauze-y white that’s not too sheer, and the puff detail in the sleeves takes it from basic to FASHION. I paired it with my new favorite demi bag, the ZAC Zac Posen Earthette Mini Crossbody, and pair of pastel pink Rebecca Minkoff sandals. I typically invest a lot more in my accessories than I do in my clothes, except for this $9 headband from Amazon, that looks a lot more expensive than it is. I love mixing high and low!
I hope you guys enjoyed this edition of “Pink is Life”. I’m really proud of what I’ve created and I hope you like it too! I’m looking forward to creating more pastel content in the weeks to come!
