What I Pack in my Bag for a Park Day

When you’re going to be at the park all day it’s good to come prepared. I am notorious for leaving my house forgetting at least one thing I need for the day (just ask my friend Sarah who has had to turn around the car twenty feet out of the driveway more times than I can count). In order to help aleviate the stress of packing a bag each time we go, I keep a park bag packed with basics that I can grab and go.

I thought I would give you guys a list of my park basics so you can keep your own Disney go bag!

DSLR Camera. As I’ve gotten more into photography, my iPhone photos just don’t cut it for me anymore, so on most days I bring my DSLR. I shoot with a Nikon D3500 and a Nikkor 50mm 1.4 prime lens. If you’re thinking about getting a DSLR, the D3500 is a great starter camera for under $500 and comes with a fairly decent zoom lens. The Nikkor 1.4 prime lens gives me the nice soft background and didn’t cost a fortune, so it was a great starter prime for me. I plan on adding more upgraded lenses to my photo arsenal as my skills improve.

Flexible Tripod. I just got this a couple of weeks ago and mainly just keep it in my bag in case I am solo park hopping without a photographer.

Corkcicle. I never leave home without my canteen. It keeps my water cold aaaaallll day! The tumbler is also a great option, but for the parks I like a canteen because I can throw it in my bag without worrying about leaking.

Sunscreen. A must in Florida. Especially for the easily-burned like me. I use the Pacifica Pineapple Flower Body Butter SPF 50, and I chose it for the pink and aqua packaging TBH, but it won me over with the pleasant pineapple scent and non-greasy application. It also comes in a spray.

Sunnies. Favorite styles here and here.

Straw hat. On particularly bright days it helps to have a hat to block the glare.

Ears. Even if you don’t wear them all day, it’s great to have a pair of ears in your bag for pictures.

Lip stain. I rarely need touch-ups with this Stilla Stay All Day lip stain but it’s good to have on hand just in case. I can’t say enough good things about this lip stain! It goes on wet but after it dries you can’t even tell you’re wearing lip color, it doesn’t dry out my lips like other long-wear lip stains, and it’s defining enough to not need a separate lip liner.

My straw bag is last season from Target, but there is a very similar option from Amazon, and another from H&M.

What things can you guys not live without on long park days?

xoxo,

Cathy
